I think it is always better to try all the possible means of alternative medicine (obviously except the most obscure ones) before you finally go to see your doctor. I am not sure what would my opinion be if I had some kind of severe disease but the alternative medicine has always worked great for me in case of less serious medical problems. I think the modern medicine is too invasive and too based on the pure "science" disregarding almost all the mental, I would even say "human" aspects of the disease and of the patient.
Traditional or alternative medicine? First of all it depends on you. Because if don't believe in the way you chose to cure yourself, the effects of this cure will not be as good as they could. Traditional medicine is for people in a hurry, that want to feel good as soon as possible and have no time to be sick... But if the reasons are not only related with your body and are deeper inside you... In these cases alternative medicines can help even more and show you a good way to understand the reasons of your physical problems and how to solve them. With alternative medicines you are not only a body but an elaborate person. To understand you in such a complete way it's necessary a longer time and you have to be prepared. So results can be very good are cannot be in both medicines first of all depending on you.
Well, your behavior causes diseases for sure, if you mean lifestyle and bad habits. I am sure all medical expert, both traditional and alternative will agree on this.
It's damn right that your behavior can make you sick. It's enough if you do something too much or not enough and you've got a disease sticking with you right away. Say you eat too much and your chances of diabetes go up tremendously. A century ago, diabetes was not as common as it is now. It's obviously connected to the number of obese folks in the population. Say you don't eat enough and there you go, all under-nutrition disease get you in no time. Behavior can make you live longer and happier, I'm sure about that. Plus there's all this psychosomatic stuff.
Oh yes, I agree, if we speak about direct or immediate causes there is a connection between behavior and diseases for sure and it is probably in most of the cases obvious. But if I would mean some more hidden stuff and possibly “deeper” causes? Something that is more close to the psychosomatic issue, “Healing Power of Illness” or “Disease as the Language of the Soul”. E. g. regarding diabetes there could be an idea that "behind the desire of diabetics to enjoy sweet things and their simultaneous inability to assimilate sugar and absorb it into their own body cells, stands an unsatisfied desire for love, along with an inability to accept love and absorb it unreservedly” (Dahlke). Or simply what do you think what's the reason and/or purpose of diseases?
What are your experiences with traditional and alternative medicine? Is it possible that our behavior may cause our diseases or it is a nonsense or just a coincidence?
