Ramirez donated the car to the hospital with the intent of them selling it to raise money for the hospital, and that's what they planned on doing.Of course, then Manny got traded to the Dodgers and left behind a lot of Red Sox fans who were quite bitter about the way he left. As a result, the hospital's auction on eBay hasn't garnered the kind of attention (okay, maybe the economy has something to do with it) they had been hoping for, so they came up with an idea to raise more money.
