Kinetic Concepts gains FDA approval for tissue-repair product (at bizjournals.com)

The Food and Drug Administration approved a new wound-care product developed by Kinetic Concepts Inc.’s LifeCell Corp. subsidiary. San Antonio-based Kinetic Concepts (NYSE: KCI) has received FDA 510(k) clearance for its LifeCell Tissue Matrix for the management of chronic, trauma, surgical and other acute wounds. The product utilizes the company’s Strattice technology, a sterile reconstructive tissue matrix that supports tissue regeneration. The Strattice technology acts like a scaffold that is revascularized and repopulated with the patient’s cells in order to convert it into functional, living tissue.
