Leon Haslam has shrugged off his last lap defeat at the hands of Shane Byrne by consoling himself with the fact that he secured second place in the British Superbike standings. Stymied by a shoulder injury, sustained when he fell during qualifying yesterday, Haslam has adrenalin – and pain killers – to thank when he got a strong start in the final race of the year and led up to Druids. Holding that position for almost the race's entirety, Haslam would be caught by a charging Shane Byrne in the latter stages.
