Sunday, 12th October 2008 Cal Crutchlow grabbed third in the standings from Tom Sykes after finishing the year with a second and fourth place finish. Cal Crutchlow ended his British Superbike tenure with a 12th podium of the season at Brands Hatch after a fighting ride to second place. Crutchlow was eager to complete his time in the championship with a third win of the season, but while he led initially in the first race, Shane Byrne managed to get the better of him at the start of the second lap.
