Crews scramble to restore power; unnecessary travel discouraged

Update noon: Numerous power outages at Park City and south of Columbus were reported to the Stillwater County Sheriff's Office. One caller reported 36 inches of snow along White Bird Road, 7 miles south of Columbus. Although the caller had no power, he was calling the sheriff's department for clearance to burn a slash pile on his property, because he had nothing else to do. Another caller, at Beehive, along the Stillwater River 14 miles west of Absarokee, reported 34 inches of snow, said Larry Bernhardt, a dispatcher at the Stillwater County Sheriff's Office. "The individuals, they say it's on the level ground, no drifting," Bernhardt said. None of the callers today reported any emergencies. County and state road crews are out plowing, Bernhardt said.
