As part of my morning ritual I turned on my computer to see if there was any Senators news. Lo and behold there was a press release stating that the captain Daniel Alfredsson was having arthroscopic knee surgery this morning. It seems as if Alfie had a bone chip in his right knee. It was unclear if it occurred in the Senators game Sunday in Stockholm or if it was a pre-existing injury. Alfredsson had been skating in practice this week. Either way fans attending the home opener Saturday will not get see their captain. If all goes well Alfredsson will return in two weeks or less. If there is ever a good time to have surgery, now will be it. After the Red Wings game tomorrow evening Ottawa’s next effort is scheduled for Friday Oct. 17th.
