Elmira man indicted in Hathorn Court shooting

The indictment of Romondo L. Ross, 24, of John Street in Elmira, was released this afternoon by the Chemung County District Attorney’s office. Ross was indicted by a Chemung County Grand Jury on Thursday on two counts of second-degree murder, second-degree attempted murder, two counts of first-degree criminal use of a firearm and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is accused of killing Maurice L. Davis, 51, of Hathorn Court in Elmira on Aug. 1. Davis was shot in the head while sleeping in his bed in his upstairs apartment in Hathorn Court. Police have said Davis wasn’t the intended target but was hit by a stray bullet that went through his bedroom wall.
