MAYOR; jeff.mayor@thenewstribune.com Even as workers and park staff were scurrying to complete last-minute items, and removing the first snowfall of the season, the first visitors stepped into the new Henry M. Jackson Memorial Visitor Center at 10 this morning. The new $22 million center is the newest addition to the complex of buildings at Paradise, the most visited locale at Mount Rainier National Park. The new building replaces the saucer-shaped center that served the park since 1966. But its energy inefficiencies and decaying structure the park to decide to build a new center.
