The 64-year old manager leaned on the rail, both arms crossed and watched as his team prepared to play Game 2 of the National League Championship Series against Los Angeles. He talked to outfielder Jayson Werth about where his hands should be while hitting, he made a few mental notes that he conveyed to hitting coach Milt Thompson and he went about business as usual.
