Speedy Justin Veltung key to Puyallup attack

In a ball cap and North Face windbreaker, Justin Veltung watched his Puyallup High School teammates practice Thursday, waiting for his cell phone to ring. “My doctor’s going to call me with my MRI results,” the elusive and athletic senior said. “We’ll see what he says.” Veltung tweaked his left foot in the third quarter of last week’s 35-7 win over Spanaway Lake. He hasn’t practiced all week, but the South Puget Sound League’s most explosive player held out hope that he will be on the field when the Vikings travel to Curtis tonight for an SPSL South clash. “I’ve been hurt before,” he said, “but I’ve never missed a game.” If Veltung is forced to sit out, Puyallup (4-1 overall, 3-1 SPSL South) will be missing its most dangerous weapon. “Any time he has the ball in his hands, he’s got the speed to outrun anyone on the field,”...
