The U.S. Treasury Department releases its monthly budget statement for September. Economists expect a surplus of $62-billion (U.S.). Altera Corp. reports. Analysts expect first-quarter share profit for 2009 to rise to 30 cents (U.S.) from 20 cents a year ago. CSX Corp. reports.
