Former Rwandan minister denies genocide charges: ICTR (AFP)

ARUSHA (AFP) - A former Rwandan minister accused of committing genocide denied all charges at his first appearance before the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) on Friday. Former planning minister Augustin Ngirabatware is also accused of committing crimes against humanity and breaching the Geneva convention, the UN court said in a statement. Arrested in Germany in September 2007, he was transferred to the ICTR on Wednesday. Ngirabatware is the son-in-law of Felicien Kabuga, believed to be the main financial backer of the 1994 genocide. "I plead not guilty," Ngirabatware said 10 times in reaction to each of the ten charges.
