News Minute: More steep losses...Easing the impact...Palin meeting under way

Associated Press - October 10, 2008 2:03 PM ET NEW YORK (AP) - It's a week that investors may wish would end already. Stocks are posting some big losses once again, on a day that began with some wild swings in the Dow -- first losing 700 points, then gaining it back, and then falling 500 points in afternoon trading. Any buying that's taking place may be caused by computer-driven orders that kick in when stock prices fall to a certain point. LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) - John McCain and Barack Obama each have suggestions today for easing the impact of the financial crisis. McCain wants to let the elderly hang onto the stocks in their retirement funds until the market improves -- instead of being forced to start selling them off when they turn 70 and a half.
