Western Arctic candidates woo voters at Inuvik forum

An informal survey suggests many people in Inuvik, N.W.T., are undecided about who they'll vote for in Tuesday's federal election after Western Arctic candidates fielded questions for more than two hours at a local forum. About 100 residents attended Thursday's forum, which was sponsored by the Town of Inuvik. Four of the riding's five candidates travelled from Yellowknife for the event, while Green party candidate Sam Gamble joined in by phone. The candidates answered questions on issues ranging from the global financial crisis and climate change, to the high cost of living and other social issues affecting Canada's North. "My personal concern is about suicide, and I asked them a question about what are they going to do about the climbing suicide rate in the North," said Amy Duffy, who is training to be a nurse in Inuvik....
