The Record is BBC Parliament's regular round-up of the preceding day's stories in Westminster All eyes are on the Lords on Monday, when Peter Mandelson is introduced into the House for the first time. Few politicians attract quite so much attention as the man dubbed the "Prince of Darkness". He's becoming Lord Mandelson so that he can become the government's new Business Secretary. Later that day,peers will finally get their chance to debate the government's controversial plans to detain terror suspects for up to 42 days before charge. It promises to be a lively debate, with strong feelings roused on either side of the argument. Earlier, peers discuss the recent serious fire in the Channel Tunnel.
