Kataeb leader Amin Gemayel said that he feared that reconciliation in the Christian community would be “style over substance,â€_ and a kind of “tranquilizer.â€_ “We encourage it [Christian reconciliation] since it reduces tension, but there were effective tranquilizersâ€_ that made the reconciliation transient, he said.
