Gemayel to NOW Lebanon: What kind of state do we want?

Kataeb leader Amin Gemayel said that he feared that reconciliation in the Christian community would be “style over substance,â€_ and a kind of “tranquilizer.â€_ “We encourage it [Christian reconciliation] since it reduces tension, but there were effective tranquilizersâ€_ that made the reconciliation transient, he said. In an interview with NOW Lebanon on Friday, Gemayel said that meetings were the first step toward reaching a minimum understanding. He said that some were attempting to isolate Bkirki and keep it away from its national, which, he said, was a big mistake. “In the end, reconciliation between the Maronites cannot become real unless it is sponsored by the sect’s father,â€_ he said.
