Comics battle 'Mortal Kombat'

Oct. 10--The heroes of the DC Comics universe take on the fighters of "Mortal Kombat" in a video game set for release in late November. Comic book scribes Jimmy Palmiotti ("Painkiller Jane") and Justin Gray ("Jonah Hex") bring their expertise to "Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe," which intertwines the "Mortal Kombat" characters and the DC characters in one storyline. The game will be available for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. In addition to head-to-head combat, gamers will be able to choose a favorite character and pursue an adventure in a single-player mode. "Mortal Kombat" began as an arcade game in 1992, and has since become one of the most popular fighting games of all time.
