By Peter Jackson | Of The Associated Press A lack of voting machines and poll workers could force some Pennsylvania voters to wait in line on Election Day, a group founded by civil rights lawyers warned Thursday. The Washington-based Advancement Project, which scrutinized selected counties and cities in seven states, said the surge in voter registration and an expected larger-than-usual turnout this year could overwhelm many precincts in the Nov. 4 election. ''Most of the places we looked at are under-resourced,'' said Judith Browne-Dianis, a co-director of the group. County officials, however, said they remain confident that they will avoid serious problems at the polls.
