Gay Issues on Back Burner in Presidential Election

It was the culmination of the politicization of the Christian eveangelical movement as a powerful force that had begun with Ron Reagan’s first term in office at the dawn of the 1980s. Now, however, RawStory.com is reporting that the culture wars battlefield is empty. Both John McCain and Barak Obama are shying away from gay issues while they’re stumping. They have avoided issuing statements or papers on any subjects on such hot-button issues as the military’s "Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell" policy, adoption and especially marriage.
