DRUG manufacturing giant Roche will move to have an anti-cancer drug subsidised across the board for patients. The company confirmed it was preparing a submission to have Avastin listed on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme for the treatment of breast and kidney cancer. The revelation follows an emotional plea by the family of marathon champion Kerryn McCann, who is fighting breast cancer, which has spread to her liver. Mother of three McCann, a three-time Olympian and Commonwealth Games gold medallist, is paying $2800 a dose of the drug, prompting her family to appeal for its PBS listing.
