LORI MCLEOD Globe and Mail Update TORONTO — Credit market turmoil has led to a widespread tightening in business lending conditions across the country, according to the Bank of Canada's Senior Loan Officer Survey, released Friday. Amidst the global turmoil in the credit markets, 50 per cent of the opinion measured by the survey said lending conditions are getting tougher. This was the highest balance of opinion since the survey began in 1999. It's the first time the central bank has publicized the survey - and comes at a fortuitous time as investors, institutions and governments struggle through tumultuous markets.
