The erstwhile “Grace” star returns to prime time in “The Starter Wife” (tonight at 9 on USA Network). The series is a continuation of the 2007 miniseries and is based on the novel of the same name. Messing is back as ex-trophy wife Molly Kagan, but you won’t spot a hair’s difference between her and Grace Adler. That’s because Messing approaches every role with the same basic level of kitsch and cuteness. She could play Mother Teresa and she’d still mug to the cameras.
