4 in ‘shabu tiangge’ case found guilty

By DJ Yap Philippine Daily Inquirer MANILA, Philippines—Another batch of men accused of trading illegal drugs at the infamous "shabu tiangge" (shabu market) in Mapayapa Compound in Pasig City two years ago were meted 12-16-year jail terms Friday by a regional trial court. Judge Librado Correa of Pasig RTC Branch 164 found Rene Mijares, Gually Fausto, Andres Villamina and Emelito Balanquit guilty of violating a section of the Dangerous Drugs Act outlawing employees or visitors of a drug "den, dive or resort." In his decision, Correa also ordered the four, who comprise the third batch of accused on trial for the same charges at the branch, to pay a fine of P100,000 each.
