Teen tells would-be recruit of his 18th birthday in Afghanistan

Oct 10 2008 by Katie Bodinger, South Wales Echo A SOLDIER deployed to Afghanistan on his 18th birthday has been telling potential recruits about the realities of Army life. Fusiliers Joe Teale, 18, and Lee Tobin, 22, both members of 1st Battalion, The Royal Welsh, visited the Armed Forces Careers Office in Cardiff to speak to youngsters who were hoping to join up. They met up with teenager Zane Davies, who is currently going through the recruitment process. Fusilier Teale, from Bridgend, was deployed to Afghanistan on his 18th birthday, admitted he had been in some difficult situations, but said he loved the work he did. “It is hard.
