Germany's DAX down 8.4 percent in early trading

Germany's benchmark DAX market recovered somewhat but was still down 8.4 percent in early trading Friday, following Asian markets' losses earlier in the day. Financial companies and industrials posted some of the largest drops, but the overall market started showing some signs of steadying later in the morning.
