Newman and Woodward

By David Inman • Special to The Courier-Journal • October 10, 2008 Dave: Would you please tell my friend Ralph that Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward never acted together in the movie "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof." He claims they did, in another version. I said they didn't, in any version. Dear D.E.: Tell Ralph that Newman and Woodward never appeared in a TV or movie production of "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof." Newman's co-star in that 1958 film was, of course, Elizabeth Taylor. And "The Long Hot Summer" was Newman and Woodward's first film together.
