Being a football player was more important. I received a football scholarship for my skills as a player, but when it came time to enroll at Rochester Community College in Minnesota, to my surprise, I was not allowed because I had the reading and writing skills of a ninth-grader. Thanks to the generosity of English professor Jim O'Brian, who offered to work with me to improve my academic skills, I am who I am today. Knowing firsthand how important an education is, when I heard about the new "GED on Demand" I became excited. Here is an opportunity to remedy anyone's lack of education in the privacy of their homes, which would greatly diminish their feelings...
