Airline competition ramps up at MSP

Southwest, Alaska Air are great additions to the marketplace. THE LINEUP AT MSP Lindbergh Terminal: 117 gates with Northwest operating 106. The remaining 11 gates are shared by American, USAir, Delta, Continental, United, Frontier and Air Canada. Humphrey Terminal: 10 gates that are shared by AirTran, Icelandair, Miami Air, Midwest, Sun Country, Sky West and Aeromexico. The drumbeat of bad news seems to never end for airline passengers: Higher prices, lower levels of service, long waits at security lines and, most recently, new fees for everything from luggage to peanuts.
