- Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd., a research-driven integrated pharmaceutical company, said it has initiated Phase II study for its lead molecule Oglemilast - GRC 3886 - for the treatment of asthma. The Mumbai-based company said this 12-week randomized, double-blind, parallel group, placebo-controlled dose range study will evaluate the efficacy of Oglemilast in the treatment of Asthma. The company plans to enroll around 230 patients in around 30 centres. Oglemilast, Glenmark's novel oral, long-acting PDE4 inhibitor is presently being studied in patients for chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder or COPD in a multi-center Phase II trial by Forest Laboratories, Inc. the licensee for Oglemilast in North America, the company said.
