Amman - The Ministry of Education on Thursday launched a project to eradicate illiteracy in the Um Rassas District of Madaba. The launch of the "Towards a District Free of Illiteracy" project marked the Kingdom's celebration of International Literacy Day, which is observed worldwide on September 8 every year. According to Mohammad Okour, managing director of general education and students affairs at the Education Ministry, 16 illiteracy eradication centres were established in the district which will educate residents in the targeted area aged 15 and above.
