2008 OCT 19 - -- Advanced Life Sciences Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADLS) and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, a division of Wyeth (NYSE:WYE), have signed a development and commercialization agreement for cethromycin in the Asia Pacific region excluding Japan. Cethromycin is a novel once-a-day oral antibiotic for the treatment of community respiratory tract infections. Advanced Life Sciences will retain exclusive rights to cethromycin in the rest of the world, including North America and Europe and excluding Japan(1). Advanced Life Sciences separately announced the submission of a new drug application (NDA) to the U.S. FDA for cethromycin for the indication of mild-to-moderate community acquired pneumonia (CAP) (see also Pneumonia).
