TORONTO, Oct 9 (Reuters) - Xstrata has restarted the concentrator at its Kidd copper and zinc metallurgical operations in northern Ontario, but the two smelters and a refinery are still silent as unionized workers continue their strike. The 600 workers went on strike after their three-year contract expired on Oct. 1, and both sides have yet to return to the bargaining table, an Xstrata spokesman said on Thursday. The operations consist of a concentrator, copper and zinc smelters, and a refinery. Kidd supplies about 1 percent of the world's copper and zinc, along with about half a million tonnes of sulphuric acid.
