Lambert travelers face higher fares

(Elie Gardner /P-D) Come this December, St. Louis' main airport will have no dominant carrier for the first time in more than 20 years. Southwest Airlines and American will land in a virtual tie as the carriers complete cuts to their flight schedules. But experts say don't expect airlines to put up much of a fight to take over Trans World Airlines' old turf. What you might expect are fewer flights, higher ticket prices and more headaches for travelers.
