Magical season keeps getting better in Tampa Bay

By Gary Thorne, Special for USA TODAY There will be a baseball book written about this team in the not to distant future. There has to be. They have made baseball history in a most improbable season. The Tampa Bay Rays will be much scrutinized as they head to the ALCS. It's the new kids on the block against one of MLB's foundation blocks, the Red Sox. Here in a nutshell are the chapters for the book and the headings for all the stories to be written over the next 10 days, and maybe longer. The Rays never had a winning season in their 11-year history and never registered more than 70 wins. The Rays are the second team in history, the first in the AL, to go from the worst record in the majors one year to the playoffs the next. The other team was Atlanta in 1991.
