Advertisers love it when their slogans make it into our everyday conversations. I'm sure that every time we say, “breakfast of champions,” “just do it,” “got milk?” “pork-it's what for dinner,” “finger-lickin' good,” “I can't believe it's not butter,” etc. the genius who came up with these lines hears a little “cha-ching” ring in his ears. Well, now, the Advertising Council, which directs and coordinates public service campaigns on behalf of Madison Avenue and the media industry, is taking an entirely new marketing approach. Rather than try to get a catch phrase ingrained in our head, the Ad Council is trying to get an offensive phrase out of our language. The phrase in question is: THAT'S SO GAY.
