GULBARGA: The second biggest idol of Lord Buddha in India was on Thursday installed at the sprawling Buddha Vihar in the outskirts of Gulbarga city amid chants of the religious verses by a team of 20 Buddhist monks. They were led by Acharya Nawang from the Nalanda International Institute (Boddisathva Trust) at Bylokoppa in Mysore district. The beautifully sculpted panchloha idol with a gold coating is the biggest of its kind in South India. Lord Buddha is in the sitting posture and it is one among the one among the very few Buddha idols with two of his earliest disciples Anand and Kashyap offering their obeisance.
