Bonds' attorneys question definition of steroids in motion

The defense for Barry Bonds called one of the counts against the former slugger "fatally ambiguous" and questioned the prosecution's definition of steroids, according to documents filed in federal court this week. "The pharmacological term 'steroid' is itself one that lacks a precise definition," Bonds' attorneys wrote in the filing that part of the defense's motion to dismiss. Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew A. Parrella, the lead prosecutor on the case, had no comment when reached Thursday afternoon. Bonds, baseball's all-time home run king, pleaded not guilty to 14 counts of making false declarations and a single count of obstruction connected to his testimony in front of a federal grand jury in 2003.
