In addition to a gathering of Commonwealth of Independent States leaders, members of Eurasian Economic Community will hold a conclave in the Kyrgyz capital on October 10. And on the same day, the heads of Central Asia’s five states will hold a sit-down. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is expected to use the occasion to promote Russia’s vision for a new world order -- one in which the United States is not the sole global power. In the Kremlin’s worldview, Russia is rising to counterbalance US power.
