In the Book Notes series, authors create and discuss a music playlist that is in some way relevant to their recently published books. Every year I look forward to the announcement of the Flannery O'Connor Award for Short Fiction winners. No literary honor has introduced me to more talented authors in the past several years, and this year is no exception. Peter Selgin's Drowning Lessons is one of this year's two honorees, and is an exceptional collection of short fiction. Selgin's novel, Life Goes to the Movies, will be published next spring by Dzanc Books.
