Linda Young - AHN Editor Chicago, IL (AHN) - Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart faces being found in contempt of court for his decision to suspend enforcing eviction orders because he says they too often involve rent-paying tenants who didn't know their landlord hadn't paid the mortgage. Dart's decision has also sparked controversy. Critics worry that Dart's move might make the housing crisis worse by making lenders reluctant to extend credit when it is already difficult to get loans. And some sheriffs in other counties say they don't support his decision to stop enforcing court-ordered evictions of residents of foreclosed properties.
