Rogers fields economy questions

By Kristofer Karol • DAILY PRESS & ARGUS • October 9, 2008 Livingston County business leaders peppered their local congressman with questions Wednesday about the recent $700 billion Wall Street bailout, how it will affect them and how it will discourage future questionable economic practices. National City Bank's John McManus voiced his displeasure with the bill to U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Brighton, stating troubled businesses should have been allowed to fail. "Now, this is no lesson," McManus said. "There's $700 billion for you to do whatever you want. It just stinks." Rogers and his Democratic opponent in the Nov. 4 elelction, Bob Alexander, opposed the bailout, with the former voting against it twice.
