David Murphy meets Mark Curtis, CEO of mobile and online flirting company Flirtomatic. As Curtis explains, the Flirtomatic proposition may be based on fun, but as a business, it’s deadly serious. DM: So Mark, tell us where the idea for Flirtomatic came from MC: I was working at Fjord at the time, and we were keen to try and get Nokia as a client and Christian Lindholm (now CEO of Fjord), challenged us to dream up five ideas that could be big on mobile in the next few years. So we sat down and asked ourselves what was big on the web, and we could see that online dating was growing phenomenally. So we asked ourselves: ‘What will dating look like when it goes mobile?’ And we decided it would be more fun, more light-hearted, quicker, and someone said: ‘That’s flirting’, and the idea took root immediately.
