Brown's return to football has given life to St. Joseph's running attack

Published Thursday, October 09, 2008 6:05 AM By LARRY BOWEN larry.bowen@theeagle.com Devorderick Brown and football split up for two years before Brown renewed the relationship this fall, and now the St. Joseph Eagles are loving it. Brown has emerged as the leading rusher for St. Joseph, which will play its Homecoming game against Snook at 7 p.m. Friday. The junior is playing football for the first time since middle school, joining the Eagles after projected starting running back Shane Peevey suffered a season-ending injury early during two-a-days. The Eagles are 3-1 overall and 1-0 in district with Brown giving St. Joseph another offensive threat alongside the passing game led by quarterback Alec Castilleja.
