Alastair Cook has admitted that the England players are more focused on money as opposed to the cricket for the Stanford Twenty20 game. The Essex and England batsman claims come in the build up to the big-money showdown against the Stanford Superstars side in Antigua on November 1 in which each player has the opportunity to scoop $1m (£577,500) should they win the encounter. Cook, who is part of a 15-man squad set to travel to the Caribbean to play in the Stanford Super Series, insists the entire event would lack importance if it were not for the money on offer.
