Mauritania: AU Communique on the Evolution of the Situation

Posted to the web 9 October 2008 Addis Ababa The Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union (AU) is keenly following the political situation in Mauritania in light of the communiqué adopted by the 151st meeting of the Peace and Security Council (PSC), held in New York on 22 September 2008. In the course of the past weeks, and as a follow-up to the decision of the PSC, the Chairperson of the Commission held intense consultations with the AU partners within the international community in order to mobilize further support for the AU efforts.
