Published: October 9th, 2008 12:30 AM | Updated: October 9th, 2008 01:07 AM A woman who abandoned her baby 11 days ago delivered the child outdoors by herself, walked nearly three blocks to a Federal Way church and left the girl there because she thought it was a legal and safe place, according to police records released Wednesday. The 22-year-old mother said she delivered the baby in a yard outside the Brightwater Apartments where she lived with her father. She told police she cut the umbilical cord with scissors, wrapped the newborn in a beach towel and threw the placenta into a trash can. She wanted to go inside to get something warmer for the child and to write a note, according to police documents, but she locked herself out of the building.
