US TV PROGRAMS DEPENDENT ON FOREIGN COJONES Has it come to this - a Hollywood that produced both Starsky and Hutch, Thomas Magnum and MacGyver has to outsource its macho? You won't hear it (much), but the American television landscape is undergoing a full-on invasion from Britain and former British colonies as producers and casting directors struggle to find domestic masculinity. "We're not growing men anymore," says Scott Rosenberg, executive producer of "Life on Mars," a new show that had to cast an Irishman, Jason O'Mara, as gritty NYC detective Sam Tyler. He's got a point. Would anyone seriously describe overgrown boys Tom Cavanagh ("Eli Stone"), Zachary Levi ("Chuck") or Jason Lee ("My Name Is Earl") as leading men?
