Ensuring Armenia's Energy Security

A National Iranian Gas Export Company (NIGEC) official has announced the country's immediate plans to begin gas exports to Armenia. "Iran plans to annually export some 1.1 billion cubic meters of gas to Armenia and the amount will eventually be increased to 2.3 billion cubic meters by 2019," NIGEC's director for engineering affairs, Rasoul Salmani, said. Earlier, Reza Kasaei-Zadeh, the head of National Iranian Gas Export Company, said the country would be able to provide Armenia with the gas it needs for the coming winter.
