Playoff-savvy Tim Wakefield gets ready for action

In fact, it was 16 years ago today that Wakefield burst into the sporting consciousness during that series as a novelty knuckleballer. He tossed a complete game to beat the Braves’ Tom Glavine in Game 3, then came back on three days rest to do it again in Game 6. Fast forward to 2008, and a lot has changed. The 42-year-old Wakefield is no longer a curiosity, but a battle-tested warrior who has experienced his share of postseason highs and lows.
